Stepmothers are Moms Too: Blended Families
Our Beginning
When my dad found Marilyn, he found a gem stone. She and I were introduced in the mid-'80s and we clicked immediately. She made a great impression on me and it was obvious that she wanted me to be accepting of her. As time went on, our friendly talks morphed into a relationship with a loving bond that still exists. She and my dad were married in May 1993 and I couldn't be more proud to call her family.
These days, we don't see each other as much as we'd like which she repeatedly reminded me of the other day; however, when we do, it's as though we just talked the day before.
What's In A Stepmother?
There are special qualities within my stepmother that are important to me and that I cherish. She is gentle and kind; a woman of God; very soft-spoken, and above all she loves me unconditionally.
I spoke about my views on blended families in a previous post but today is a tribute to our special mother/daughter relationship. Our bond is an example of mutual acceptance and is an important step in being a successful family blend. I can't end this post without saying, "Marilyn, I love you, and thank you for being such a blessing in my life then and now".
Love endures forever.
