Throwback Thursday - Remembering Big Bank Hank

Rapper's Delight

Rapper's Delight

Everybody go hotel motel Holiday Inn
— Big Bank Hank

I don't think a day goes past without having listened to a Sugarhill Gang, Whodini, or Doug E. Fresh and the Get Fresh Crew song. Especially if you’re an OG like me.

There's just nothing like the old school rap beats. No matter what mood you might find yourself in, you're sure to perk up and TURN UP when you reach back there and dust off one of these classics.

I was saddened to hear that rapper Henry Jackson, AKA Big Bank Hank, 57, past away Tuesday of complications from cancer. We have lost another musical legend. He will go down in history as a member of the SugarHill Gang labeled as one of the first groups to introduce the rap genre.

A beefy, boisterous presence onstage, Hank handled vocals in the early to middle portion of "Rapper's Delight," which despite its extended length -- one version was more than 14 minutes long -- became the first rap song to reach the Top 40 on the U.S. Billboard charts. ~CNN

Sit back and feel the beat in remembrance of "Big Bank Hank" and the Sugarhill Gang.

What is your favorite old school rap beat?
